Hey Mom! Check out the Cool Car!!!

One of Maxx's favorite things to do is to look down on the busy street we live on, and watch the delivery trucks and hustle bustle of the city traffic. We see lots of lights and sirens too.

So I went to the window and this is what I saw.

Maxx sat and watched this cool car owner guy for about 20 minutes giving me a play by play. "he has a rag and is cleaning the engine...there is a guy walking over to talk to him...the mans are talking...that man is walking away...there is a guy on a bike stopping to look...he is looking in the windows...they both are talking to each ovfer...oooo he put the hood down...walllking around...the man is getting inside..."

Then the driver got in, started the engine...it roared and purred and drove away.
"Next time Momma can we go and talk to him?...and check that cool car out?"...

Chicken Pot Pie...from the other night

We had chicken and dumplings the other night and I had some left over chicken and soup goop, so I made two Chicken Pot Pies. One for Monday's supper and one to freeze for another night.

The Making of our yummy pot pie from the other evening.

Rollllll it. Since I don't have tons of time to throw flour all over the counter, I pull the pie dough from the freezer and bring it to room temp. Then roll it between two pieces of plastic wrap. No stick and no mess.

Pour the bechamel sauce.
I used some of the liquid from the chicken and dumplings and made a bechamel sauce. Then added frozen peas, chopped carrots, green beans, sauted onions,...oh and the chicken.

Topped it with love and and egg wash, then popped it in the oven...'till bubbly

Rub a dub dub thanks for the grub...!

Comfort Food and a Game

These are the last few nights that Maxx is three. We are trying to enjoy every moment. I can not believe he will be four next week. Oh how time flies!

Yesterday evening, Maxx and I made a pot of chicken and dumplings.
Then we sat down and played Hi Ho Cheery-O! It was a fun night!

Days Off Are the Best!!!

After a 9 day stretch, today was my first day off. It was the best!!!
Maxx and I slept in 'till 9am. Then we played hide and seek with his stuffed cat "Kitty". I cut a cantaloupe for breakfast and he wanted PB&J with that.

Kurt took us to this awesome park that they discovered a week ago and have been going to. It really was great. Independence Park is where we ended up. The playground was fun and the mix of kids was soo perfect. There is a large garden to run and roam with shade and sunshie...but the best part was the spraying water. We were at the park for three hours before we even looked at our watch. While Maxx made friends and got soaking wet, I sat on the sideline watching and drawing with sidewalk chalk...soaking in the freedom of not working and the sunshine. In the middle of play we heard the chiming bells of the icecream cart, and Maxx took off with Daddie running after. They both came back with some sweet-cold ice cream. Just a perfect park day.

We came home for lunch and had quite time...nap time got skipped today. I told some of Grimm's fairy tales to Maxx, and then we listened to Jack and the Bean Stalk(his favorite story right now).

Kurt made some turkey chili and the perfect batch of cornbread. Dee-lish!!

While I was relaxing on the couch Maxx got really quiet.
"I just wanted a whittle taste!" He told me as he was licking his fingers... after he had dipped them in the yummy cheesecake. (One of my customers sent me this the other day.) Maxx!...we are going to get frozen custard in a few, at Scooters. "It was only a whittle whick, Mahhm." He is so independant and rescourceful. I love his spirit!

I am off tomorrow too.
Days off are the best!

Making Bubble Wands in the Middle of a Crazy Week

It is a beautiful day! Maxx and I slept in 'till 9am...so nice.

I am on day 8 of a 9 day work schedule that included two cl'open shifts...and I am pooped. One more day to go and then a much needed day off.

This morning we realized we have company...a house fly, who made his way to our 3rd floor apartment and is continuing to provide some fun entertainment for Maxx.
"Whoa!" "Where is that funny fly guy?" "Ahhhhhhh MOahhhM!!!"

Maxx and I are starting our preparations for his birthday party. We are going to have a hand made party this year. The past three years Kurt and I have gone all out with professional cakes the perfect location with stressing ourselves. After lots of soul searching and questioning this past year... I am present in knowing the most important thing is not the perfection, it is the celebration, the rhythm of tradition, and just enjoying the moment by being together.

Today we started our day with painting the stick part of our future
bubble wands.

Enjoying the moments!
